Panopto is a cloud-based video platform that is now available to Harper faculty. Panopto provides an all-in-one solution for recording, editing, captioning, and sharing videos! Panopto is integrated with Blackboard and Webex, which provides easy access and a streamlined workflow for faculty and students.

There are three workshops being offered during the Spring 2023 semester. Click on the toggles below to view the details and register for each workshop.

Panopto Basics Workshop Series

Panopto Basics: Introduction to Creating Effective Course Videos 

Join this introductory workshop to learn:

  • The keys to designing effective educational videos
  • How to create and centrally manage your videos in Panopto
  • Basic editing features built into Panopto
  • Integrating Panopto with Blackboard and Webex

This is the first in a series of Panopto Basic workshops offered by the Academy for Spring 2023. It’s recommended to start here if you are new to Panopto. This will be a hands-on workshop, so please bring a laptop if you have one. The Academy will also have some workstations equipped with microphones and cameras that can be shared by participants.

  • Date & Time: Wednesday, February 1, 2023 from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. or Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 12:30 – 3 p.m.

Panopto Basics: Video Editing & Captioning 

In this workshop we will dive into the features of the video editor. The Panopto video editor is cloud-based and online which means you can accomplish common video editing tasks right from your browser. Join this workshop to learn how to:

  • Trim and clip videos in Panopto’s non-destructive editor
  • Add features to a video such as YouTube, webpage links, documents and additional slides
  • Explore the captioning features available in the Panopto editor
  • Review video share settings and viewing statistics

This is the second in a series of Panopto Basics workshops being offered by the Academy for Spring 2023. It is recommended that participants are already familiar with creating and/or uploading videos in Panopto. This will be a hands-on workshop, so you can bring a laptop if you choose or use the workstations that will be available.

Panopto Basics: Interactive Video Quizzing 

In this workshop, participants will learn how to add interactive quizzing into Panopto videos to improve knowledge retention and make videos more engaging. Join this workshop to learn how to:

  • Use the Panopto online video editor to add multiple choice, checkbox, and true/false questions to videos
  • Choose quiz options such as retakes, auto-grading, and answer review
  • Access aggregated quiz results to get feedback on student understanding
  • Connect Panopto video quizzing to the Blackboard grade center

This is the third in a series of Panopto Basics workshops being offered by the Academy for Spring 2023. It is recommended that participants are already familiar with creating and/or uploading videos in Panopto. This will be a hands-on workshop, so you can bring a laptop if you choose or use the workstations that will be available.
