Faculty Leadership Opportunity – OER Coordinator

Tenured, full-time faculty with one year of experience using OER are invited to apply for the OER Coordinator position. The OER Coordinator co-leads the College’s OER efforts with the Dean of Teaching, Learning, and Distance Education and reports to the Provost’s office as a direct report to the Associate Provost for Academics. An advisory committee will review applications, interview selected applicants, and make a recommendation to the Associate Provost for Academics who well select an applicant to fill the position. The advisory committee will include the Academy Dean, Academy Chair, a full-time faculty member, a member of the OER workgroup, and the current OER Coordinator.

Terms of Position:

The OER Coordinator position is a three-year appointment, with an evaluation completed after the first year. An evaluation tool that will be used in the review process will be mutually developed by faculty and administration. After the completion of the first three-year term, a second term may be granted without a search process as determined by the Associate Provost and Coordinator. An annual evaluation will be conducted for each of these terms.

The OER Coordinator receives six hours of reassigned time during each fall and each spring semester, starting in Fall 2020. A summer rider should be completed for summer work based on the scope of the work that the Coordinator and the Dean mutually agree is appropriate with approval from the Provost’s office prior to summer term. Compensation is per faculty contract for summer work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The characteristic duties and responsibilities of the OER Coordinator include the following:

  • Serve on the OER Workgroup that oversees the OER proposal process and reviews OER grant applications
  • Advocate for OER adoption through individual meetings with faculty, orientation week presentations, and workshops throughout the semester
  • Consult with faculty to identify potential OER resources, support OER implementation, and connect them to campus and community resources
  • Coordinate OER program evaluation efforts including the collection and sharing of faculty and student outcomes
  • Maintain a record of college OER usage by semester, course, and section
  • Collaborate with Institutional Research and Effectiveness to assess OER program outcomes
  • Contribute to national OER communities including the CCC-OER listserv
  • Other duties and responsibilities associated with relevant OER initiatives/programs

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants for the OER Coordinator must be tenured, full-time faculty who have used OER for a minimum of one year. Additional qualifications for the OER Coordinator include the following:

  • Demonstrated experience using one or more tools that may be used to adapt or build OER content (e.g. Pressbooks, Wikiversity, eLearning packages)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills demonstrating the ability to interface with diverse audiences and stakeholders
  • Ability to work with a team of administrators and staff
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines in a timely fashion
