The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Shared Governance Committee and Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in partnership with the Academy would like to invite you to join in reading and reflecting on Not Always a Valley of Tears: A Memoir of a Life Well Lived by Pascuala Herrera, Harper Professor Emeritus and long-time counselor and advocate in Access and Disability Services.

Professor Herrera will read selected passages from her book and provide some insight into issues of race, ethnicity, immigration, language, disability, and education and labor opportunities relevant to understanding our students’ needs. Participants will then be able to join a breakout discussion facilitated by a Harper colleague and then return to the main room for sharing and reflections with the author.

The first 50 people to register can request an e-book to be sent to their Harper email; participants can also purchase print copies on their own through Amazon.
