In November 2016, the Academy launched the first set of Communities of Practice. The first set of communities were created from existing fellowships (Multicultural, Universal Design for Learning, Assessment, and the Flipped Users Group), and they spent the fall semester recruiting new members to their communities.

Now that the first communities have been launched during this transition phase, we are looking for new Communities of Practice on topics of interest or areas that have not been explored before. Submit a proposal to create a new Community of Practice.

Not sure what kind of community to create? Here are some sample topics:

  • Senior Faculty for Teaching Excellence
  • Humanities and Digital Technology
  • Disability Studies
  • Energy-based Curriculum
  • Problem-based Learning

To begin the process, gather 6-8 colleagues with a shared interest, then submit a proposal to create a new Community of Practice. Once the proposal has been received, the Academy will contact you to discuss your application, and if approved, you can begin to meet and develop projects that will impact student learning at Harper College.
