Have an idea for a new project? Want to develop or pilot a program or service, but lack the funding to support it? The Harper College Educational Foundation allocates up to $100,000 annually through the Resource for Excellence (RFE) grant program which could be the answer. The RFE grants are an excellent way to develop, implement, and evaluate creative and innovative ideas and activities.

One of the winning teams in fiscal year 2022, led by Professor John Garcia, was awarded an RFE grant for a project titled Service-Learning Initiative, aiming to create such a program in the Honors Program and beyond. Read more about this project.

The RFE Grant Application Period is now open, and will close at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 7, 2022. Funds for this annual cycle will be available for use on July 1, 2022 and must be spent by June 30, 2023.

RFE funding supports innovation, creativity, and/or originality. The objectives of the proposed project must be clearly illustrated through ideation, resourcefulness, and collaborations, and catalyze the improvement, enhancement, or expansion of programs or services that ultimately support Harper’s mission, and one or more of the College’s FY2021-2024 Strategic Plan Goals. RFE grants can provide funding for yearly projects (for a maximum of three years) or one-time events.

Two RFE Grant workshops are being offered to help potential applicants with completing the grant application package:

Both workshops will be conducted via Webex. The workshops provide an opportunity to learn more about the RFE program process and timeline, review the RFE application documents, and gain insight into writing a successful application.

All application documents and important dates are provided on the Grants Department HIP page.
