Ally is a new tool in Blackboard that provides easy to follow guidance on how to correct accessibility issues within your course. Ally also gives students the ability to download course content in a format that meets their needs. In just the first week of classes for the Fall 2021 semester, students have downloaded 2,735 alternative formats in 664 courses!
With the launch of Ally, the Academy is introducing the chance to become an Ally Advocate!
Ally Advocates are recognized for their ability to leverage the Blackboard Ally tool to improve the accessibility, quality, and usability of course content for all students. Ally Advocates will be awarded a badge and 1.0 CEUs for completing a chosen pathway in the Ally Checklist. This badge can then be shared through various platforms to show verification of completing training and criteria for course accessibility.
If you would like to become an Ally Advocate, here are the steps to get started:
- Register for an upcoming Ally workshop on August 31, September 1, or September 2 -OR- Watch a recording that will be posted here after the live workshops
- Complete the tasks in the Ally Checklist
- Visit the Academy’s Ally Support page
