Have an idea for a new project? Want to develop or pilot a program or service, but lack the funding to support it? The Harper College Educational Foundation has up to $100,000 available through the Resource for Excellence (RFE) grant program which could be the answer to those questions. RFE grants are an excellent way to develop, implement, and evaluate creative and innovative ideas and activities.
As an example, a 2017-2018 RFE grant provided funding for four full-time teachers in Harper’s Child Learning Center to become HighScope certified, and for costs associated with HighScope accreditation for the CLC. HighScope certification and accreditation assures the community that Harper is committed to professional excellence and delivering a high quality experience for all the children and families Harper serves.
The next RFE grant application period will open Friday, January 11 and close at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 8. Funds for this annual cycle will be available for use on July 1, 2019 and must be spent by June 30, 2020.
The proposed project should incorporate invention, creativity, and/or originality. The objectives of the project must be clearly illustrated through ideation, resourcefulness, and collaboration, and catalyze the improvement, enhancement, or expansion of programs or services that ultimately support Harper’s mission, strategic plan, and one or more of the College’s Strategic Goals. RFE grants can provide funding for yearly projects (for a maximum of three years) or one-time events.
Two RFE Grant Application workshops are being offered to help potential applicants with completing the grant application package:
- Friday, January 18 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. in Building W, Room W219
- Thursday, February 14 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. in Building L, Room L201
The workshops provide an opportunity to learn more about the RFE program process, review updates to the RFE Application, Guidelines, and Grading Rubric, and gain insight into writing a successful application.
All application documents and important dates are provided on the Grants Department HIP page.
