Student Development and, very soon, Academic Support Centers are excited to partner with our academic faculty by offering curricular infusion classroom presentations on a range of topics such as educational planning, career development, health and wellness, and diversity. These workshops bring experienced academic advisors, faculty counselors, and success specialists into the classroom to guide students through goal-setting, defining their educational plan, and becoming mindful citizens.
Examples of presentations currently offered:
Transfer Planning: This 30-minute presentation teaches students about the transfer process, including where to find transfer information online, what questions to ask of the four-year institution, and how to create a transfer timeline.
Introduction to Career Development: This 30-minute presentation, introduces students to the Career Development Process, the AOI model, and how AOIs, majors, and careers work together; and provides an overview of career services at Harper College.
Let’s Talk about Gender: This 50-75-minute interactive workshop raises awareness and helps students better understand gender. The workshop will provide an opportunity for students to learn how gender is constructed, gender-related terms, gender pronouns, and inclusive language.
Whether you see a presentation topic that would enrich your course or would like to prevent cancelling class, fill out the form and a representative will reach out to coordinate the presentation to meet your intended outcomes. The length of presentations can be customized. Please request presentations one week in advance.
New presentations will be added soon to address additional non-cognitive, social, or student success needs. Ideas for presentation topics are welcomed! Please provide suggestions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Together, we can promote student success.
