Harper has been recognized as a Digital Community Colleges Survey 2016-2017 top-10 winner by the Center for Digital Education in an annual survey that has been conducted for the last 12 years. Harper ranked second in the category of colleges with 10,000 students or more. Of the colleges surveyed, “91% provide professional development on how to integrate technology into curriculum and instructional practices.” The top-10 ranking shows Harper’s commitment to professional development in support of instructional excellence.

According to Patrick Bauer, Chief Information Officer, the survey is in-depth and rigorous, containing several hundred questions, and taking about a month and a half to complete. “The survey ranking shows that we have a deep enough infrastructure to be innovative instructionally,” said Bauer.

The Academy continues to support faculty in their pursuit of innovative instruction with programs and one-on-one support designed to enhance faculty’s expertise and knowledge on Blackboard, instructional technology, flipped classroom techniques, accessibility of online materials, and digital learning tools.
