Blackboard Tips & Tricks from the Academy for Teaching Excellence

When I look at my course, why is it labeled “Not Currently Available”?

You will notice that your course reads “Not Currently Available” to the right of the course title on the My Blackboard page. This means that it is unavailable to the students…not you. You will have to make it available to the students when you are ready to open it up. To do that:

  1. Go into your class by clicking on the title of the course on the My Blackboard page
  2. Click “Customization” in the Control Panel area located in the left column under “Course Management”
  3. Click “Properties”
  4. Find “Set Availability” (number 3) and click the radio button “yes” next to “Make Course Available”
  5. Click “Submit”

You’re all set. Your course is now available to the students. (Note: You can still make certain course materials within the course unavailable to students until a later date if you want to do that.)
